What to Expect on the Day of Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation

On the day of your Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation, you will receive general anesthesia to help you sleep through the surgery, providing you with a more comfortable experience. Dr. Bhat will begin by performing liposuction to harvest fat deposits from the pre-determined areas of the body. The fat that is harvested is then prepared for injection into the breasts.

Once the “clean” fat is ready, Dr. Bhat uses special syringes to inject the purified fat cells into different tissue layers inside of your breasts to increase breast volume. She will suture any incisions made and cover them with bandages for added protection.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation Recovery

Since this is an outpatient procedure, you will be able to go home the same day. You will be held in our recovery room as you awaken from sedation, and once you have appropriately recovered from the effects of anesthesia, your friend or family member can take you home.

You will be expected to wear a surgical bra to give your breasts some additional support. Most patients will need to wear them for at least two weeks, but you should continue to wear them until Dr. Bhat says it’s no longer necessary. Most patients can expect to take around a week or so off from work and other activities.

There will be expected swelling, soreness, and bruising for up to three weeks, with swelling possibly persisting for up to six months.
